Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade
Windows 7, Microsoft’s newest operating system, which has been in beta testing for a while, is now officially available.
To be honest, I never used Vista myself once it became available at retail. Once in a while, Microsoft comes out with a dud of an OS and Vista was one of them (along with Windows Me). The beta version of Vista really deterred me from it more than anything and it didn’t seem much more promising once it was ready for retail. So I avoided Vista like the plague and it was the reason I opted for a netbook instead of a laptop because they came with XP instead of Vista.
On the other hand, Windows 7 has gotten a lot of praise. It’s what Vista should have been. Windows 7 is less of a resource hog and can run fairly smoothly on lower spec’d machines compared to its predecessor.
If you haven’t given it a try yet, stop by your local electronics store and just mess around with any of their display models that have Windows 7 installed. That’s really one of the best ways to try it first without spending any money.
For those who are ready to take the plunge, consider the upgrade version. It’ll save you money over buying the full version.
For previous owners of Vista Home Premium (or better versions), you may be eligible for a FREE upgrade from Microsoft. Check out the details here. Microsoft’s upgrade program ends January 31, 2010.
